Overview
Enbridge Pipelines Inc. operates the world’s longest crude oil and liquids pipeline system, with about 13,500 kilometres (8,500 miles) of pipeline throughout North America, delivering more than 2 million barrels per day of crude oil and liquids. Through its subsidiary, Enbridge Pipelines (Athabasca) Inc., the company plans to build a large pipeline terminal near Bruderheim.
Known as the Stonefell project, the facility will provide BA Energy’s Heartland Upgrader with access to oil terminal and transfer services in the Edmonton area. The project’s batching, pumping, metering and blending facilities will consist of six 150,000-barrel tanks as well as receipt and delivery pipelines and laterals. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2007, with the terminal operational in 2008.
